Pattern challenge 3 – Top 3 has been chosen!

Published: 22/09/2023

We launched our third Pattern challenge a little over a month ago, and it has taken too long to publish the top three. We apologize to any designer whose patterns have been unnoticed since Instagram no longer shows all the hits with specific keyword.

The theme of the third pattern challenge was to create a repeated pattern for babies or kids. We asked the designer to pay attention to the unisex theme and colors that are visible to babies’ growing eyesight. The pattern was to be suitable for bedding and clothing.

We chose the three best patterns matching this challenge from the participating works. Here they are, in a non-specific order.

The first excellent pattern design is from Vivien Kiupa, a Finnish textile design student of Metropolia AMK  from Helsinki. This pattern has a nice full flow that hides a lot of shapes and motifs. It is suitable for all genders and for everyone from babies to grannies.

The following pattern is from Saara Suvela, a Finnish, Helsinki-based interior and surface pattern designer. Saara’s pattern “Suo-Nalle” has a cute bear collecting berries to sleep well with a full tummy during the winter. This pattern is especially good for unisex clothing.

Again we have a nice entry from designer Jenni Mäensivu, that ticks all the boxes we asked. This pattern makes you happy, is well-suited for clothing and bedding, and has clear simple motifs that a baby can see.

Stay tuned for our upcoming Pattern challenges! We invite designers around the world to participate and create outstanding pattern designs!
