Strand – Pojo
I grew up on the west coast of Finland, where the sea and coastline have always held a special place in my heart. Standing by the shore and gazing out at the sea, makes me feel free – as if I can roam anywhere in the world and breathe freely. The inspiration behind the “Strand” pattern collection comes from this sense of freedom. The patterns of this collection are named with Swedish coastal and water-related words and places, as Swedish is Finland’s second official language and is spoken widely in the coastal area. The name “Pojo” is derived from the Swedish name of a place located at the base of a sea gulf, with ancestral ties for me. This pattern draws inspiration from the rounded rocks on the seafloor, a characteristic of the Finnish coastline. Pojo is painted with watercolors and can be used in multiple products.
