Kevään Aarteet – Krassin tassut
The Kevään aarteet (“Spring treasures”) pattern family is inspired by the small moments and details of spring. Those times when the light softens and the first truly warm, sunny days arrive. Outdoors, crocuses, scillas, and daffodils begin to bloom, while indoors, new green shoots appear in seedling trays. The patterns capture these seasonal observations – rhythm, colour, and the joy of growth.
The inspiration for the Krassin tassut (“Nasturtium paws”) pattern came from the round leaves of the nasturtium plant, whose shape and arrangement resemble little paw prints. The plant’s first leaves often appear in pairs, and in a planting box, their rhythm formed a playful trail of prints, skipping this way and that.
A shared moment of sowing seeds with a toddler revealed how quickly nasturtium begins to grow — and how its shapes start to come alive in the imagination. The leaves soon turned into visual motifs, first captured in sketches and later developed into a pattern.
Although the design is representational and clearly inspired by plant forms, the Krassin tassut pattern works beautifully in a wide range of color combinations. Its airy and balanced rhythm makes it suitable both as a stand-alone design and as a calming counterpart to more complex patterns.
