Terttu Rönkkö

Terttu Rönkkö is a Finnish graphic and surface pattern designer, and the founder of Lumimarja Studio. She works with a wide range of clients, from start-ups to publicly listed companies. Holding a Master of Science in Graphic Design – including studies in the United States – she is also a professional member of Finland’s leading design associations, Grafia and Ornamo.

Her design approach is both functional and exploratory, guided by clarity and focus. In pattern design, she is particularly drawn to the process of reduction: stripping away the unnecessary to reveal the essential. She also values the expression of emotional states and the creation of flowing, organic patterns. In her work, she seeks a timeless, refined sensitivity balanced with contrast, explored through variations of line and brushstroke as well as through the merging of different artistic media.

Terttu finds inspiration in three-dimensional forms and the subtle beauty of everyday details. Many of her ideas emerge from incidental observations: the wonders of nature, the textures and compositions of architectural surfaces, the interplay of neighboring natural forms, or shadows shaping reflections at the threshold between built and natural environments. She closely follows design, fashion, and contemporary art, with a particular interest in architecture. Through her work, she aspires to design that embodies clarity, sophistication, and lasting impact.
